S K E R V Y - Q U E E R T O THE BONE! A brief history of some sKeRvY events: August 15, 2003: SparkleHeart presented: Keep Your Panties On! This delightful evening of queer burlesque included performances by Pandora Pandemonium, Josephine Bordello, Erogenous Jones, SparkleHeart, Black Venus, Sierrae and Hazelnut. August 22, 2003: This Old Thing? At this Skervy Fashion Show hosted by Marie of TechnoDyke.com and MC'd by the fabulous Darklady, 'model citizens' donned retail, thrift, fetish and homemade fashions in ALL sizes. Zanne won the audience response award in her Burning Man evening wear, including dustmask, goggles, tattered coat and tails, flashing bikelights and headlamp. |

August 1, 2003: Nerd Night! Skervy hosted and Free Geek sponsored a fun benefit for TechnoDyke.com, the 2nd leading online community for queer women based here in Portland! Raffle prizes were donated by FreeGeek (a FREE COMPUTER - linux OS! How cool is that? The winner is making the computer a queer community computer!) InHerTube, In Other Words Books, It's Her Pleasure, Pussy Pucker Pots and others! July 18, 2003: Fagazine Coming Out Party! Skervy welcomed this brand new queer magazine into the world! the lovechild of Five, Brendon, et al., Fagazine were bending minds over all night long with performances by Dexter Casanova, SparkleHeart, Precious, Serpentina and Five! Fagalicious deejays Stormy and Five did naughty things to our ears. July 25, 2003: Skervy turned one year old! July 11, 2003: Tommy Torpedo returned to the Cobalt stage with the manly men of DK PDX, Portland's newest, hottest all-male (wink) revue! Long live the Portland Drag Kings! Photos coming soon! June 14, 2003: the Land of Oz, a queer pride extravaganza at Level, in cooperation with Jon and Leonard of Not Another Queer Night at Level. 600 revelers danced and enjoyed our fire dancers, go-go boys and girls, Black Venus' performance and SparkleHeart's burlesque striptease shows. Thanks once again to everyone for helping us raise another $400 for SMYRC, Portland's Sexual Minority Youth Recreation Center. Let's keep SMYRC open! June 13, 2003: Pride kickoff! June 5, 2003: Packing Party May 29, 2003: Drag King show with D.K.PDX! A drag king cabaret benefit for SMYRC. We raffled off prizes from Captain Jacks tattoos, Pussy Pucker Pots, In Other Words bookstore and other local businesses. Thank you everyone for helping us raise over $400 for SMYRC! May 22, 2003: Dress Party - yep, EVERYONEin dresses! Skervy raised over $200 for the 2003 Dyke March! May 15, 2003: Hanky Code! We've created a whole NEW hanky code and people at Skervy added their ideas to the list on the wall! February 14th, 2003: SKERVY presented a Queer Valentines Day Black Hearts Dance at the Whatever Lounge, 2209 NE Alberta at NE 22nd up in the North East! Over 140 people showed up to spin the bottle, get blindfolded, tied up, spanked and paddled by our Skervy Torture Committee! Two punk fags and a dyke on our Skervy Kissing Krew roamed the floor providing services. We raffled off two $50 gift certificates to Captain Jack's for a tattoo or piercing, a $25 gift certificate to Powell's Books and FIVE bottles of Probe Rich and Thick! |
