Sounds Like Fun Sounds Like Fun
Sounds Like Fun is a simple pop band...a tiny drumkit played with brushes, a guitar and a keyboard. All songwriters, the members take turns singing the leads and belting their support. The music is wild, happy and explosive, detouring occasionally into a quiet lullaby of three-part harmony. There is a unique sound going on here. Fuzzy bass tones, slightly distorted acoustic guitar, bangy/bouncy drumbeats and sunny synth patches give Sounds Like Fun a sonic recipe all its own.

The Kinks, David Bowie, Talking Heads and the movie "Punch." The heart of this group is its songs which are quick, catchy and exuberant, songs that celebrate life and its oddities. Guitarist Anthony Schatz, drummer Gavin Bowes and keyboardist Anton Hougardy share the microphone and spotlight completely, creating a band that has not one frontman, but three.

The word "love" shows up a lot in these songs and you can tell by the faces of this trio as they sing that they hope love itself might fill the room. Harmonies are everywhere - yelling, whispering, escalating - like a boys' choir that threw away the book and wrote some hymns of their own. These are songs about our strange world, about freedom from the human condition, about a love that does not lament, but soars.

It's rare these days to find a band that is singing about joy without sarcasm or cynicism, and rarer still to find one that actually exudes it. Sounds Like Fun is no mystery when it comes to such things - their heart is worn happily and refreshingly on their collective sleeve.
